There are many tribal children (Irulas) who are enrolled in schools nearby their residences but are unable to attend school regularly due to lack of transport and the inability of the parents to reach them to school due to their work pressures.
We have identified 26 such children in the Irula hamlet at Karunguzhi who are enrolled in the CSI Secondary School at Karunguzhi and have arranged for an autorickshaw to pick them up in two trips from their homes and drop them back after school. Apart from ensuring regular attendance and consequently, proper education and discipline, nourishment aspect will also be taken care of by provision of breakfast and lunch at the school.
