We have been implementing this project in the tribal villages where only hand pumps are the source for drinking water. In most of the tribal villages, borewells have been installed 5 to 10 years back and the hand pumps are in damaged condition putting the tribal women to great difficulty in drawing the water. As the tribal women are already in weak health, women and children are struggling hard to lift the water using hand pumps.
So, our NGO with the permission of village panchayats remove the hand pumps, flush the borewells and erect electric motors to lift and supply the water through taps connected with mini water tanks with the capacity of 2000 litres
This project enables aged people, women and children to get safe drinking water round the clock without any difficulty.
We started this project last year and set up mini water tanks in two villages in Kancheepuram District namely Ullampakkam, Kancheepuram District and Pathiri, Thiruvannamalai District.
