Sun Pharmaceuticals Pvt Ltd’s CSR Initiative: Delivering Clean Water to Government Girl’s Hr. Sec School Student

In a display of corporate social responsibility, Sun Pharmaceuticals Pvt Ltd, in collaboration with ASSCOD, has successfully implemented a Water, Sanitation, and Hygiene (WASH) project. This initiative aims to provide clean water to 1920 girl students at the Government Girls Higher Secondary School in Maduranthakam, Tamil Nadu. The Reverse Osmosis (RO) Water plant, built with a capacity of 1500 liters per hour, stands as a testament to Sun Pharmaceuticals commitment to community welfare.

The Need for Clean Water:
Access to clean water is a fundamental human right, and Sun Pharmaceuticals recognizes the importance of addressing this need in the local community. The Government Girls Higher Secondary School in Maduranthakam, like many educational institutions, faced challenges in ensuring a sustainable and safe water supply for its students.

Project Details:
Sun Pharmaceuticals partnered with ASSCOD to implement the project. The RO plant, with a capacity of 1500 liters per hour, was built at a cost of Rs. 7,00,000. The project not only addresses the immediate water needs of the students but also contributes to the broader goal of promoting hygiene and health in the community.The project was seamlessly integrated into the ‘Namma School Namma Oru Palli’ initiative of the Government of Tamil Nadu. This strategic alignment ensures that the efforts are synergized with existing educational and community development programs, creating a holistic impact.

Sustainability through Community Involvement:
To ensure the long-term sustainability of the project, the School Management Committee, comprising capable individuals from the community, will take charge of the plant’s maintenance. This approach not only empowers the local community but also fosters a sense of ownership and responsibility.
